Butterfly Count Details

Steve Bouffard, retired USFWS refuge manager, has conducted 4th of July Butterfly counts on Camas NWR since 2005.  Butterfly counts are coordinated by the North American Butterfly Association.  They are similar to Christmas Bird Counts, in that the counts occur in a circle with a 7.5 mile radius.  Counts are done in June & July in US; generally late June or early July at Camas.  Anyone can help.  Counts require a minimum of 4 observers and 6 hours afield, always in the hottest part of the day.
